Garamycin Uses Garamycin is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in the body. It is used to treat severe or serious bacterial infections.

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take gentamicin and talk to your doctor if you experience, increased thirst, loss of appetite, nausea or vomiting, a rash.
Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual. Garamycin Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including: sulfite sensitivity, kidney disease, hearing loss or loss of balance due to ear problems, Parkinson's disease, or a neuromuscular disorder such as myasthenia gravis. Garamycin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Garamycin should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects.
Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight. Garamycin increases the sensitivity of the skin to sunlight, and severe sunburning may result. If exposure to the sun is unavoidable, wear protective clothing and sunscreen. Call your doctor if you experience severe burning, blistering, swelling, redness, or a rash after exposure to sunlight. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Garamycin may cause dizziness. If you experience dizziness, avoid these activities.
