Cozaar Uses Cozaar is in a class of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. Cozaar prevents the constriction (narrowing) of blood vessels (veins and arteries). Cozaar is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to reduce the risk of stroke.
How To Use Cozaar Take Cozaar exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water.
It can be taken with or without food.
Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Cozaar Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, or hives), or little or no urine. Other side effects are less serious. Continue to take Cozaar and talk to your doctor if you experience diarrhea or upset stomach, muscle pain or cramps, dizziness, or insomnia. Cozaar Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including : have kidney disease, have liver disease, are on a salt-restricted diet or have high levels of potassium in the blood, or are taking a potassium supplement (e.g., K-Dur, Klor-Con, others), or a potassium-sparing diuretic such as amiloride (Midamor), triamterene (Dyrenium, Dyazide, Maxzide), or spironolactone (Aldactone).
Coreg should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby.
Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Cozaar may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities and notify your doctor. Also use caution when rising from a sitting or lying position. Use alcohol cautiously. Alchol may further lower blood pressure and increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Cozaar. Cozaar Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : If you are taking a potassium supplement such as K-Dur, Klor-Con, and others, taking a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill) such as amiloride (Midamor), spironolactone (Aldactone), or triamterene (Dyrenium, Dyazide, Maxzide), or using a salt substitute. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Cozaar. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines. Cozaar Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, weakness, fainting, and fatigue. Cozaar Notes Do not share Cozaar with others. Cozaar Missed Dose If you miss an Cozaar dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. Cozaar Storage Store Cozaar at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
