Combipres Uses Combipres decreases the levels of certain hormones in your blood. This effect allows your blood vessels (veins and arteries) to relax and decreases your blood pressure. Combipres also slows your heart rate. Combipres is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). How To Use Combipres Take Combipres exactly as directed on the package or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. Take each dose with a full glass of water. It can be taken with or without food. Taking it at bedtime may prevent falls and injuries. Never take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Combipres Side Effects This drug may cause following serious side effects : an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, closing of your throat, swelling of your lips, tongue, or face, or hives), a very slow heart rate (fewer than 60 beats per minute), or unusually high or low blood pressure (severe headache, redness of the face, neck, and chest, dizziness, and fainting). Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Combipres and talk to your doctor if you experience any of the following: unusual fatigue, dizziness, or tiredness, headache, constipation, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea, insomnia, or a dry mouth (sucking on ice chips or sugarless hard candy may relieve this side effect). Combipres Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including : have any type of liver disease, have an allergy to sulfa-based drugs such as sulfa antibiotics (you may have an allergic reaction to chlorthalidone), or
· any type of heart disease, had a heart attack or a stroke, kidney disease, high levels of cholesterol or triglycerides (types of fat) in your blood, diabetes, gout, a collagen vascular disease such as systemic lupus erythematosus, or pancreatitis. Combipres should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. As it might passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing infant. Ask your doctor Before breast-feeding a baby. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Combipres may cause dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid these activities and notify your doctor. Also use caution when rising from a sitting or lying position. Use alcohol cautiously. Alchol may further lower blood pressure and increase drowsiness and dizziness while you are taking Combipres. Do not use salt substitutes or potassium supplements while taking Combipres except under the supervision of your doctor. Combipres Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : a beta-blocker such as atenolol (Tenormin), acebutolol (Sectral), propranolol (Inderal), metoprolol (Lopressor), carvedilol (Coreg), carteolol (Cartrol), labetalol (Normodyne, Trandate), or nadolol (Corgard), levodopa (Dopar, Larodopa, Sinemet), prazosin (Minipress), or verapamil (Verelan, Calan, Isoptin, Covera-HS), or a tricyclic antidepressant such as amitriptyline (Elavil, Endep), imipramine (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor, doxepin (Sinequan), and others. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Combipres. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines. Combipres Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include drowsiness, lethargy, weakness, lightheadedness, a slow heart rate, nausea, vomiting, increased urination, and possibly seizures. Combipres Notes Do not share Combipres with others. Combipres Missed Dose If you miss an Combipres dosage, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. Combipres Storage Store Combipres at room temperature between 68 and 77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) away from sunlight and moisture.
