Cleocin Uses Cleocin is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in the body. It is used to treat bacterial infections. Because of its side effects, Cleocin is usually only used to treat serious infections. How to Use Cleocin

Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Cleocin and talk to your doctor if you experience nausea, vomiting, or decreased appetite, heartburn, or an unpleasant or metallic taste in the mouth.
Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual. Cleocin Precautions Tell your doctor your medical history, including: liver disease, kidney disease, or stomach or intestinal disease.
Cleocin should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Cleocin should not be used without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. Cleocin Drug Interactions Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you are using, especially : Erythromycin (E-Mycin, Ery-Tab, E.E.S., PCE, Eryc, others). Medicines containing kaolin and pectin (e.g., Kao-Spen, K-C, Kaodene, Kapectolin), which are used to treat diarrhea, may decrease the effects of Cleocin. Do not take kaolin and pectin during treatment with Cleocin. Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Cleocin. Cleocin Overdose If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
